  1. Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper Training (QWEL)

    January 13, 2018, 8:00 AM - February 3, 2018, 4:30 PM @ Chino Basin Water Conservation District

    The Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) certification is an EPA WaterSense labeled program. It provides landscape professionals with 20 hours of education on principles of proper plant selection for the local climate, irrigation system design and maintenance, and irrigation system programming and operation. Through this hands-on course, professionals will understand the particular characteristics of their clients' sites and plants, thus maximizing the use of limited water resources and helping clients save on their water bill. Please sign up at least a week in advance to ensure you receive your books in time for the course. Course Dates: January 13 & 20 and February 3 (Saturdays) Course Time: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (30 minute lunch)

  2. Scout Discovery Day

    January 27, 2018, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

    Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops of the Inland Empire are invited to Chino Basin Water Conservation District’s free Scout Discovery Day at the district’s Water Conservation Center. Scouts will explore the magic of soil and water conservation while working towards receiving badges and a special CBWCD-specific patch. Due to high demand, Scout Discovery Day is only open to Scout troops within the Chino Basin Water Conservation District service area. Our service area covers the cities of Chino, Montclair, and portions of Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, and Upland. Check if your troop is within our service area at http://cbwcd.org/130/Service-Area If your troop is outside of our service area but still interested in the event, please register but know that you will be placed on a waitlist, and we will let you know in mid-January if your troop will be able to attend.

  3. Winter Season Pruning and Water Wise Garden Maintenance

    If it’s fall or winter it’s time to prune your deciduous trees and shrubs, and some specific evergreens. Whether your pruning for size, shape, structure, flowers and/or fruit production, now is the time to sharpen those tools and get into the garden with confidence! As a winter season class, we will focus on deciduous fruit trees and roses. Most of the techniques are also applicable to many other plants.

    Want to earn $$$ and help our community conserve water by winning Chino Basin Water Conservation District's poster contest, infographic contest, or Water Wise Challenge but having trouble starting? You're in luck because our education team will be hosting a workshop to provide content and materials to help students start or get feedback on their submissions. Not able to attend on the 27th? We are also offering this event on Saturday the 20th. Can't make it to etiher? Check out our contest information for guidelines and our scoring rubric, and make sure to submit your poster or infographic by February 9 and registration request for the Water Wise Challenge by March 2.
