Let’s go GREEN! Don’t miss this opportunity to catch the ‘Green Train’ by jumping into composting and garden recycling. No jumping into actual compost is necessary. Composting and mulching will reduce water demand in your garden, drastically improve your soil, and decrease your overall environmental impact!
Participants in this workshop will learn how to turn ‘garden trash’ into resources that become a staple for healthy gardening. ‘All Aboard’ for composting!
Attendees will leave with an understanding of:
• The differences between mulch and compost
• How to properly apply mulch and compost
• Choosing the right composting containers and enclosures
• Identifying what you can use to compost (and what you shouldn’t)
• The many benefits of mulching and composting
• Composting with worms
• Finding FREE high-quality mulch (Hint: we give it away every other Saturday!)

Inland Empire Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts 3rd grade and up are invited to Chino Basin Water Conservation District’s and The Energy Coalition's free Scout Discovery Days at the District's Water Conservation Center and Demonstration Garden. Scouts will engage in hands-on, STEM activities to understand how we get and use resources in our communities and to learn how we can conserve them through changing our behaviors and developing new technology.
Scouts will work towards receiving CBWCD-specific and content-related patches - Scouts who participate in both Scout Discovery Days can earn up to 6 patches!
Due to high demand, Scout Discovery Day is only open to Scout troops within the Chino Basin Water Conservation District service area. Our service area covers the city of Montclair, Ontario, Chino, Upland and portions of Chino Hills and Rancho Cucamonga. Check if your troop is within our service area at http://cbwcd.org/130/Service-Area
