Description
Thinking about putting in a beautiful and waterwise landscape at home? Join us to learn about the process and rebates to help make it happen
Our instructor for this workshop will be Jacob Jones, Conservation Specialist and Sprinkler Evaluation Specialist here at Chino Basin Water Conservation District.
Jacob has been working in horticulture and outdoor water use efficiency for the past three years at CBWCD, where he provides landscape evaluations, irrigation consultations, and community education. He holds a B.S. in Plant Science from Cal Poly Pomona and brings previous experience from the wholesale / retail plant nursery industry.
Whether you are starting with a lawn, a “lawn,” dirt, or a patch of weeds, in this workshop we will teach you the basics you need to know to start planning your landscape transformation!
Converting your yard to a vibrant and low water landscape can seem intimidating, but we are here to help. In this workshop, learn:
– why a waterwise landscape can do more for you than your old yard ever did
– basics of creating a plan and resources to help.
– how to apply for eligible rebates in Southern California for landscape transformation and other rebate and installation programs
– basics of turf removal and project preparation
– basics of understanding what changes may be needed to your irrigation system
– advice on project planning and the best times of year to remove lawn and plant
– advice on choosing and hiring a contractor
-other sources of information to help you on your next steps
Each participant will be able to select a native wildflower seed packet of their choice to take home.
After the workshop concludes, for those who wish to stay, we will be offering a raffle give-away of some of our favorite waterwise California native plants. We will also tell you a bit about each one, why it is one of our favorites, and the garden situations in which it is likely thrive.
