Azucena is our Program Educator II and has over 5 years of experience in outdoor and environmental education. She holds a bachelors in Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara and is excited to join our team to educate our local students on the importance of our groundwater. With her passion for the environment she has worked in outdoor forest schools hiking the Santa Monica, San Gabriel and Verdugo mountains educating students through place based education and hands on interaction. You can catch her safely handling species anywhere from snakes to tarantulas. She has also worked on a wetland educating students on the importance of native species and drought tolerant plants. She strives to make nature accessible to all and creates inclusive spaces for all students. In her free time Azucena enjoys hiking, hanging out with her cat Sage, and spending time with her family and friends. |
