June and July have passed us by and that means tha June and July have passed us by and that means that Water Wednesday has come to a close. 💧Swipe to see all the fun we had this summer!

We'd like to say "THANK YOU!" to every single family that joined us. ✨ Over the course of these 2 months, we've crafted bead lizards and water cycle bracelets, explored with worms, splashed around in a homemade river, made tree art and sun prints and flexed our creative minds, big and small! 🎨

Next year, drop by during Water Wednesday and make your summer shine! ☀️

Have you had trouble with natives? Give California Have you had trouble with natives? Give California Buckwheat a try! Eriogonum fasciculatum is beginner friendly and provides much habitat. It feeds birds, pollinators, and butterflies throughout the hottest months of the year! Not to mention it helps prevent erosion, and has been used for generations by Indigenous Californians for food.
From spring growth, to white summer flowers, to rusty orange fall seed heads, Eriogonum fasciculatum brings beauty and habitat value to your yard year round!
Make sure you give it AT LEAST five feet of spacing when planting (ideally more). If you want the many benefits of buckwheat but don’t have the space, consider growing red buckwheat instead in containers instead! There are many cultivars of buckwheats with different growth habits so refer to the Waterwise Garden Planner for help with that.

Maintenance is easy!
It only needs pruning if you want to control the size, light pruning can be done during anytime of the year.
Hard cut backs (coppicing) to rejuvenate or completely restructure it typically works best during the fall. We found that this method works best when cut down to 6 inches.
